The Route can be determined as follows:

Divide the YEAR by 4.  The REMAINDER will show the route:

Remainder  1  =  M H B C
(Manchester, Hanover, Baltimore, Church)

Remainder  2  =  H M C B
(Hanover, Manchester, Church, Baltimore)

Remainder  3  =  B C M H
(Baltimore, Church, Manchester, Hanover)

Remainder  0  =  C B H M
(Church, Baltimore, Hanover, Manchester)

Example:  Take the year 2025

          506  Remainder 1  =   M H B C
     4 ) 2025           ↗       Manchester, Hanover, Baltimore, Church
Log - Historian Jon Nicklow keeps a log of the trek each year.  To estimate times, use the log from 4, 8, 12, and 16 years ago when the route was the same as this year.
 

 

* How far?   How high?

  It has often been said that the Glen Rock Carolers walk  6 to 7 miles  each Christmas Eve/Christmas Morning.

But it wasn’t until December 15, 2024 that Larry Flemmens, Route Committee, reported that according to his altimeter on a recent walk,  he walked a vertical distance of  740 feet .

To put that in perspective,  that’s as tall as a 74-story building.

So,  in addition to walking   6 to 7 miles ,  the Carolers climb   74 flights of stairs  ,  UP    and    DOWN  !
